Description:
CAPE COD DAYTIME CAMERA CLUB MEETING - WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 5TH AT 12:45 PM AT THE BARNSTABLE SENIOR CENTER SUBJECT PHOTO WORKSHOPS AROUND THE WORLD

The Barnstable Senior Center's new Daytime Camera Club invites all interested photo enthusiasts of any age to come to their next meeting on Wednesday, Sept 5th, from 112:45 to 3:30PM at the Barnstable Senior Center, 825 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Hyannis, Mass. (See Note Below)

The speaker, Mike Blanchette, will tell us all about his experiences at photo workshops around the world and show his prize winning photos taken at each one.

Mike is a New England-based photographer specializing in landscapes. His images exude a sense of tranquility, mystery, and simplicity. These attributes are embodied in his business motto, Serenity in Landscapes.

In addition to photographing New England, Mike travels far and wide to capture diverse subjects. Consequently, his passion for photography spans into Western Canada, across the Colorado Plateau, down the Southern Appalachian Mountains, and overseas to remote places like Iceland and the Lofoten Islands. He regularly joins other photographers on photo tours and workshops.

Mike aims to capture nature at its best, so he prefers to photograph at the edge of day when the light is often more dramatic. He is also passionate about night photography, forever in search of bright stars and a colorful Milky Way. In addition, he enjoys infrared photography -- an artistic medium that permits him to photograph in bright daylight when color photography is least desirable.

Mike is a juried member the New England Photography Guild. His photos have been featured in major publications such as Mother Earth News and PAPER, a premier New York publication covering trends and lifestyle. He is active on many social networks, where his work receives frequent awards and recognition.

Mike holds several degrees in computer-related disciplines, having enjoyed a long career in computer software. He was co-founder of a successful software company that was later acquired by Nokia. He retired from the software industry in 2001 to pursue photography and other deferred interests. In 2005, he published a childhood memoir, of his life in Canada, entitled Little Canuck.

NOTE:-New members of all ages are welcome. Camera Club yearly dues are $30.00. Non member single meeting fee is $4.00 payable at the door. Please RSVP to 508-420-8854. Our camera club has programs for all levels of photographic experience
