Description:
The Clancy Tradition plays the music of Ireland, Scotland and Cape Breton. Rose Clancy, proprietor of the Chatham Fiddle, and her father Gene are known locally for the popular house concerts they present at the Chatham Fiddle Company where Rose and Gene team up to make music, entertain, and present guest artists weekly during the summer months. John Clancy, Roses brother, will join them on bass for this event and special guest, Sarah Marchio, award winning piper, will contribute some feisty, high-spirited tunes of Scotland and Cape Breton. The Clancy Tradition, a direct descendant of the Irish Ramblers, began when the brothers and band mates Pat and Eugene Clancy recruited talented members of the next generation of Clancys to carry on the musical tradition they brought with them to the US. The Irish Ramblers originated in Ireland in the 1950s when members of the Clancy family of Moy, County Tyrone formed a Ceili Band, playing at Irish country dances and concerts throughout Ireland, and touring in the US as the Irish Ramblers. The Irish Ramblers recorded The Patriot Game with Elektra Records in 1964. The Clancy Tradition is comprised of two of the original Irish Ramblers, Eugene and Pat, and various Clancys of the next generation.
