After a year in the recording studio, The Flip Side will return to the stage on Sunday, December 4, from 4 to 6 PM to perform at Higher Grounds Coffeehouse, a community music space hosted by the Waquoit Congregational Church.

The concert presents a opportunity to hear these well-known local musicians, who have taken most of the past year off from performing to work on their third album of original songs.

The Flip Side features a duo rooted in blues, jazz, rock and soul. Chris LoCascio, on keyboards, and Melissa Roberts Weidman, on bass, have been creating together for 25 years in many different musical configurations. Their performances are infused with their contagious joy and passion in their craft.

The Falmouth-based band describes their music as jazzy blues, pop, rock, and indie, with influences of soul, funk, jazz, Motown, and the blues.

Improvisation plays a strong role in their music with the musicians looking to play the room, creating a different sound, depending on where they are.

Joining Mr. LoCascio and Ms. Weidman will be Wil (Saxman) Harrigan of Marstons Mills, who also plays in The Tunas and The Heard, and Woods Hole resident Todd Johnson. Mr. Johnson has played harmonica with the group on and off for a long time and specializes in the blues.

The parish hall is at 15 Parsons Lane in Waquoit. The Sunday event will be an all-ages show with free admission and food available for purchase. Donations are welcome.
