Join us May 5th for a reception, backstage tour of the famous Cape Playhouse and a preview of some of the historic material to be included in the upcoming Cape Cod Museum of Art exhibit, 90 Years of Summer Theater, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Playhouse. While youre here, explore the Museum and enjoy the fabulous centerpiece exhibit of the Museums 35th-Anniversary, a multi-gallery tribute to Harry Holl, a visionary artist who spent his entire life creating and was a co-founder of the Museum. The event is sponsored by The Guild of the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the Friends of the Cape & Islands Theater Coalition and is an ArtWeek Event
90 Years of Summer Theater; The Cape Playhouse and the Straw Hat Circuit opens at the Cape Cod Museum of Art on June 30th and runs through August 13th. The exhibit will reflect on the theater's history as America's oldest summer theater, home of the stars, and an original member of the Straw Hat Circuit of summer stock theaters. The exhibit will also highlight the 100th anniversary of the first ever production of a Eugene ONeill first play, which occurred in Provinctown and is considered the birth modern American theater.
