Reaching Heart School of Ballet presents The Nutcracker, a full length ballet production in its 12th year, directed by Melissa Hayes Heart. The traditional holiday ballet features over 100 local dancers and the music of Tchaikovsky. The Nutcracker will take place at the Tilden Arts Center, at the Cape Cod Community College on Saturday December 13th at 2 pm and 6:30 pm and on Sunday December 14th at 2 pm. Ticket prices are: $25 for general admission; $22 for seniors and $20 for children. Reserved seating in the first four center rows is $30. A highlight of the show includes magnificent costuming throughout the two act performance. The party scene features beautiful Clara with her friends and includes the magic of her uncle Drosselmeyer. The lovely mechanical Columbine Doll and powerful Soldier Doll emerge from enormous gift boxes and an enchanted tree grows as the Nutcracker Doll becomes a real prince! The exquisite Snow Queen arrives by sleigh, then as the Waltz of the Snowflakes progresses, glistening snow falls on the dancers. Highlights of the second act include: the beautiful Waltz of the Flowers and Mother Gingers dance with the Candy Canes and the adorable Polichinelles. A magical dance trip around the globe takes place with the confident Spanish dancers, the mystifying Arabian dancers, the energetic Chinese and powerful Russian dancers; the elegant Marzipan dancers are followed by the graceful dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy!
