The Truro Public Library welcomes Harvard Professor Lawrence H. Summers to the Truro Community Center on Monday, July 21 at 7:00 pm.
Professor Summers will address the opportunities and challenges for the American economy. Why has our economic recovery been so sluggish, even though the financial crisis ended four years ago? Is extraordinary policy necessary to maintain full employment in a financially stable way? In the longer run, is technology displacing jobs? These questions are part of a current, lively debate on secular stagnation and on the relationship between technology and economic progress by modern economists, prominent among them Professor Lawrence H. Summers.
Lauded as one of the most brilliant economic thinkers of our time, Professor Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University President and President Emeritus of Harvard University, and the Weil Director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvards Kennedy School.
