Remembering the Songs A World Music Concert/Film/Talk by Gary Stroutsos
A master of the Native American or rim-blown flute, Gary Stroutsos brings music traditions from the Zuni, Navajo, and Salish peoples alive through performance and the showing of the film, Remembering the Songs. The film is a labor of love that began with requests from tribal elders to record and preserve their traditional flute music before it was lost forever. In this special event, part video presentation, part lecture and part concert, Stroutsos focuses on his time spent with Fernando Cecillion, Zuni song keeper, sharing the delicate flute traditions of the Zuni people in words and music.
