A top-rated film by 44 top film critics on the popular film review website, Rotten Tomatoes: An accomplished directorial debut by Sarah Polley, Away From Her is a touching exploration of the effects of Alzheimer's, in which the tender wisdom of Polley's script is beautifully complemented by a wonderful performance from Julie Christie.

In her first of four novels, Still Alice, this years Friends of the Library Distinguished Speaker, Lisa Genova, explored changes in emotions, cognition, and relationships of a woman with early Alzheimers Disease.

As a pre-event to Dr. Genovas appearance, we will screen and discuss Away From Her. This film explores with intelligence, wisdom, and sensitivity the transformation of a woman with Alzheimers Disease as the illness progresses, and affects individuals close to her as they experience her changes, as well as their own.
