From deep, underground burrows in the woodlands of Cape Cod, spotted salamanders emerge after a long day of warm spring rain for an almost undetected migration to vernal pools. There they perform a mysterious nuptial dance and just as invisibly journey back to the moist shelter of logs and leaves. Join Long Pasture Teacher Naturalist Sean Kortis to learn more about salamanders, wood frogs, dragonfly nymphs, and other secretive creatures that rely on the vernal pools in our own backyards.
