CAPE COD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY&10:00 am 869 Main Street: Rain Garden Celebration with Amanda Sloan, Landscape Architect. A Rain Garden is designed to provide an important function, collecting and purifying rainfall and storm water runoff. It can be as simple as a small garden depression that accepts rainwater from the downspout of a house, to a more sophisticated engineered design that treats storm water from a roadway or parking lot. In all cases, the plants provide moisture uptake and removal of nutrients including nitrogen and phosphorus. Amanda will discuss the design, construction and environmental impacts of the Museums rain garden. Participants will help us finish the final plantings and celebrate with cake.
