A long-time resident of Sandwich, Macknight was renowned for his vivid watercolor landscapes, capturing the beauty of the natural world with striking color and energy. After Macknights passing in 1950, his estate made a generous donation to the Sandwich Public Library which helped fund a major expansion completed in 1966. In recognition, the Library named a wing in his honor, showcasing several of his watercolors. These watercolors are on permanent display on the recently updated Macknight gallery wall. Moderated by Reference Librarian, Sandra Murray, the panel will include: * Hannah Chew - Art Historian, and graduate of Harvard University, School of Arts & Architecture * Julia Blakely - Art Historian, and member of the Sandwich Cultural Council and the Sandwich Historical Commission * June Murphy - Genealogist, and member of the Sandwich Historical Commission and Friends of the Sandwich Town Archives Refreshments will be served and a lucky event participant will have an opportunity to win a matted print of one of Macknights paintings. This event is sponsored by the Board of Trustees of the Sandwich Public Library in memory of Gail Zeltman Ravetz.
