    WHAT: Outermost Contra Dance WHEN: Friday, February 14, 2020 WHERE: Wellfleet Preservation Hall, 335 Main Street, Wellfleet, MA CALLER: John Alden MUSICIANS: Jacqueline Schwab and Rose Clancy TIME: Potluck at 6:00, Dance at 7:00 Happy Valentines Day! No need to bring a sweetie to the Outermost Contra Dance; there are lots of friendly, open hearts who will welcome you to the dance. John Alden is a fun and lively caller, who specializes in making beginners and families feel welcome to the exciting world of contra dance. Jacqueline Schwab, renowned pianist, was chosen by Ken Burns for numerous public television documentaries due to the emotional expression in her playing. You might have heard her rendition of Ashokan Farewell in the Civil War documentary. She has also recorded and played dances with the band Bare Necessities for many years. Chathams own Rose Clancy is a much respected, high energy musician playing fiddle, mandolin and banjo at concerts and festivals throughout the Northeast while sharing the stage with some of the greatest traditional performers. Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork needed if you can walk, you can dance! All the dances are taught and called. If youre new to contra dance, be sure to get in on the early dances for the basic moves. And dont miss out on our welcoming and delicious potluck at 6:00. Suggested donation is $10. $20 maximum per group. Outermost Contra is one of many contradances on the Cape, and was organized in December of 2014.
