"The Cape Cod Sax Quartet -
The Cape Cod Sax Quartet is composed of Cape Cod's most well-known saxophonists: Berke McKelvey, Bruce Abbott, Maurice Soque, Ryder Corey, and Nicholas Suchecki, merging seasoned professionals with rising talents. A sax quartet consists of the four main saxophones: soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, and bari sax. The group has performed with many Cape-based artists including the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, and the Cape Cod Jazz Quintet, and have also played with internationally renowned artists such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and the Artie Shaw Orchestra.
With no rhythm section, a sax quartet exhibits skills in intonation, communication, balance, blend, and independence. Throughout their shows, they teach the audience about the history and mechanics of the various saxophones. Not only will you enjoy the music played by an ensemble you have most likely never heard or seen before, you will also learn something!"
