Tor's slide show and talk provides an in-depth look at the life cycle of local butterflies and features the glacial sand, dry meadow habitat at the Highland Center in North Truro.

He will include highlights on mate selection and courtship in Spicebush Swallowtails, and observations of sap-imbibing Red Admirals and Mourning Cloaks.

A photojournalist, naturalist, and artist, Tor Hansen majored in Zoology at the University of Arizona and earned a Master of Fine Arts from the City University of New York.

His illustrations are published in the Cousteau Society's Almanac; in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's journal, Oceanus; and in The Cape Naturalist of the CCMNH. Hansen is the co-author of Butterflies Across Cape Cod: A Guide To Finding Attracting And Observing Butterflies On The Cape, and his recent DVD is titled Miracles of Metamorphosis.

He lectures with his photographic slides on butterfly ecology and evolutionary biology, leads field walks for several Cape organizations, and enjoys sharing his knowledge with school children.
