The Saturday-through-Monday event will include a craft fair with more than 125 artisans from all over the country offering jewelry, ceramics, Cape-produced and -inspired art and more from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will also be continual musical entertainment, food, a childrens entertainment tent, games and rides, and more  all at the festival hub at Joshua Sears Memorial Field, 1175 Route 28 and Wood Road in South Yarmouth.

Among the various races and contests planned, the goofiest has to be the Running of the Beds race, starting at 11 a.m. Saturday (registration at 10 a.m. in front of Bridgewater State University at 1175 Route 28). The event involves themed teams of five people over age 14 (co-workers, families, friends etc.), wearing pajamas over clothes, pushing bed-like vehicles along a quarter-mile course. Prizes include first place, most outrageous bed, the broken spring award (also known as What were you thinking?) and the peoples choice award.

Other highlights of the weekend:

-- The annual bonfire will be lit from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday night at Bass River Beach (also known as Smugglers). There will be music from a deejay for listening and dancing, and Dennis Public Markets Meat Commander will be on hand serving chili, Captain Parkers chowder, hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, onion rings and other food. Blankets/beach chairs recommended.
