Description:
    The Thornton W. Burgess Society will hold its annual Evening for Green Briar in the historic Sandwich Town Hall, on Saturday, October 19, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The event will feature a cocktail hour, Silent and Live Auction, Buffet Dinner, and music and dancing. All the proceeds of the evening will be used to further the development of the Burgess Society's natural history and environmental education programs which help to enrich our community.

This years event will again feature the delicious cuisine provided by Momos of East Sandwich. The cocktail hour has an artiful display of Mediterranean delights such as homemade hummus, tabouleh, eggplant tapenade, plus more. Passed hors doeuvres include palmieres, and stuffed mushrooms filled with zucchini, summer squash, carrot and herbed breadcrumbs. Both beer and wine will be available during the cocktail hour. The buffet dinner will offer Coconut Chicken topped with Green Briar Cranberry Salsa served over rice, Roasted Vegetable Lasagna, Caesar Salad, and rolls and butter. Coffee will top off the meal and is served with assorted pastries.

Guests will be able to bid on a variety of items in the Silent Auction which includes gift certificates, unique art work, tickets to the Cape Cod Symphony, and Capt. Johns Whale Watcher Boats, and cooking lessons. The Live Auction items are listed below. Auctioneer for the event is Carter Luke, CEO of MSPCA Boston, and Vice President of the Thornton W. Burgess Society's Board of Directors. Luke guarantees a fun evening with many surprises.

Music for the evening is provided by the Cape All Star Jazz Band featuring Roy Campbell, Daniel LaPage, Laird Boles and Michael Dunford.
Tickets are $75 each ($50 is tax deductible) and may be purchased by phone, mail, and at the door, but pre-registration is required. Contributions of $250 will list you in the catalog as a Friend of the Society, with one complimentary ticket; $500 as a Patron with two complimentary tickets, and $1,000 and above as a Benefactor with four tickets. Auction cards will be given at the door. All proceeds of the evening will be used to further the development of the Burgess Society's natural history and environmental education programs which help to enrich our community.
