Description:
Cape Cod Community College Fall 2013 Foreign Film Series Belle Epoque October 22, 2013 ~ 3:30 PM 5:30 PM Belle Epoque (Spain/Portugal/France 1993) Winner of 9 Goya Awards, Belle Epoque, according to Director Fernando Trueba, "is about Paradise: too good to last." Fernando, a young Spanish soldier deserting the army and the conflicting loyalties of the Spanish Revolution, finds himself at a farm in the countryside befriended by Manolo, an artist with similar political views. The following morning Manolo's four beautiful daughters arrive, and Fernando is eager to prolong his stay. The daughters (with young Penelope Cruz in the role of Luz, the youngest) each seduce the young Fernando with a surprising minimum of nudity and a maximum of earthy fun in this enchanting tale.
In Spanish with English subtitles. Director: Fernando Trueba, 109 minutes.
