Silent Spring Institute, What is in our Cape Cod Drinking Water?

    Join researchers from Silent Spring Institute for a presentation about recent Silent Spring Institute studies of hormone disruptors and other contaminants of emerging concern. Dr. Laurel Schaider will describe past and ongoing studies of hormone disruptors, pharmaceuticals and consumer product chemicals in Cape Cod drinking water, groundwater and ponds and discuss these results in the context of broader concerns about pollution and water management on the Cape. Dr. Robin Dodson will discuss a recent study that found hormone disruptors and asthma-associated in a range of household products, such as personal care products, cleaning products and shower curtains, and provide tips for avoiding potentially harmful chemicals in everyday household items. Founded in 1994, Silent Spring Institute is a research organization dedicated to identifying the links between the environment and womens health, especially breast cancer. Refreshments will be served.
