October 10 JOEL T. FRY Rhododendrons on the Frontier: The Bartram Family, Plant Collectors and Naturalists in 18th Century North America Joel, an archaeologist, is curator of Bartrams Garden in Philadelphia, Americas first botanical garden. The Bartrams were unique figures. Joel will recount the history of this outstanding family and will look specifically at some of the rhododendron species the Bartrams discovered and introduced in North America and Europe.
