PLYMOUTH, MA  On September 10, 2013 at 6:00PM J. James Auctioneers & Appraisers will auction off an original 1977 oil on artist board, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute commissioned painting by celebrated Cape Cod artist Ralph Eugene Cahoon, Jr. (1910 - 1982). Every artistic element a collector and enthusiast could wish for is included in this important work of art: playful mermaids netted by Jack Tar sailors, hot air balloons, Nobska Lighthouse, Atlantis ship and a sailors valentine for "Alvin" (the famed deep sea submarine), on a whale's tail. This exceptional piece of art is estimated to realize $30,000-$60,000 at auction.

Other rare and important lots include: a pair of pre-1932 silver Torah Finials signed, Jerusalem Belazel; (identical in design to one donated to The Jewish Museum, New York by Moshe Zabari), a gilded bronze Meiji Period Howling Tiger, a large collection of quality 19th Century Chinese Export Porcelain, A rare and artfully hand painted Covent Garden, Royal Opera House Box Office sign, as well as a private collection of American and German militaria spanning from the Revolutionary War to World War II.
