The American Red Cross, Cape Cod and Islands Chapter, will offer a training class for babysitters on August 21st, 2010 at the Chapter House on 286 South Street in Hyannis. Registration is available at www.cciredcross.org or by calling (508) 775-1540.

The course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. including a lunch break. It is designed for 6th to 9th graders, ages 11 to 15, interested in becoming a responsible Babysitter. The participants will learn Babysitting responsibilities, characteristics of children, supervising and playing with children, basic care such as feeding and changing, accident prevention, emergency action and First Aid.

All participants will receive a reference handbook and a portfolio first aid kit. Cost of the class is $50. Successful participants will receive a Babysitter's Course completion certificate that does not expire. Please bring a brown bag lunch.
