Description:
Housing For All Corporation (HFAC) will organize a ceremony marking the transition of Pilot House from Community Action Committee to the Housing For All Corporations Family of Programs.
The symbolic ribbon will be cut at 12:05 p.m. at the Pilot House, located at 120 Yarmouth Road in Hyannis. This will be followed by a brief presentation and refreshments. Local officials, board members, media, local businesses and the public are invited to attend.
Pilot House is a 22-bedroom facility, serving individuals and veterans suffering from substance abuse and addictions. Over the past few months, Housing For All Corporation has received most of the necessary public support for the transition stage to be able to incorporate the mission of Pilot House into HFAC without any major changes to the current daily operations.
Pilot House is a wonderful addition to our programs, said Paul Hebert, who co-founded HFAC with his wife, Carolyn in 1991. Pilot House fits in well with what we do best helping those who at some point had problems, but are willing to make a fresh start with a job and roof over their head.
Pilot House will continue to operate with services for medical, counseling and behavioral modification, provided by Duffy Health Center. HFAC plans to promote more education to work through a Certificate granting foodservice courses and experience. In addition to securing a lease agreement with the current landlord, efforts are underway to purchase the existing facility or to find other sites.
Phase One of the campaign has now been accomplished: to raise enough funds for the transition by the end of August. Phase Two will be aimed at purchasing a Pilot House facility and Phase Three of the campaign will focus on completely integrating the Pilot House into the Drug and Alcohol Free Workforce Housing Model that CHAMP Homes and Housing For All Corp. has become known for.
PILOT HOUSE, A New Direction, will focus on being a therapeutic environment for recovery, healthful living and education leading to work for all residents within their capacity, said Hebert. It is our intention to provide the best and most cost effective program of its kind for Cape Cod.
