The Egan Maritime Institute presents Bruce Knecht, noted author, avid sailor, and celebrated journalist. On Tuesday, August 13th, Knecht will speak about his latest work, Grand Ambition. The story follows the boat-owning adventures of Doug Von Allmen, a self-made tycoon and his wife as they build Lady Linda, their extravagant dream yacht, and set sail. Knechts book discusses the unfortunate timing and circumstances that affected Lady Lindas construction and provides a very honest social commentary through the juxtaposition of the super-rich and the blue-collar employees who work for them.
