Description:
Martha's Vineyard has long been a haven for writers and authors. Celebrating the rich literary heritage of the island, the Martha's Vineyard Book Festival, in its fifth year, is a gathering of a diverse group of writers in one place. Authors, both of local fame and national acclaim, will read from recent works, discuss the creative process and sign books. Among the featured authors this year are Jamaica Kincaid discussing her most recent book, See Now Then; Susan Shreve, author of You Are the Love of my Life; and Jeanne Theoharis, with her newly-released The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks. In this relaxed setting, there will be the chance to ask questions directly of an author and discover new authors. Books will be available for sale by Bunch of Grapes Bookstore. On Saturday, August 3 the festival will be held at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown, and on Sunday, August 4 it will be on the grounds of the Chilmark Community Center in Chilmark.
