To End All Wars: Music of the First World War
|
Description:
Explore the music of the World War I era in a program by historian and performing artist Rick Spencer. The folk and popular songs of the period were patriotic and inspiring; some were filled with pathos underscoring the horror of the first global conflict which engulfed 28 nations and killed 17 million people. Sponsored by the Harwich Historical Society, the program is held in observance of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the four-year war to end all wars and will feature both well-known and obscure songs along with a discussion of the events, issues, and personalities of the day.
