Celebrating Independence Day with a New England Premiere: The A. S. Films International Film Festival
|
Description:
To celebrate Independence Day and an increasingly vibrant film scene on Cape Cod, directors Dan Boylan and Guy Taylor of A.S. Films International will present a series of short films exploring themes of freedom and America's role in the world at the Cultural Center. A premiere Cape Cod and special directors' screening of The DC Trilogy, three short films that take a non-traditional approach to 9/11-related issues -war, terrorism and espionage, will be presented at this festival. Another feature will be the producers' short film, Moment of Silence, the winner of a CINE Golden Eagle Award (Independent Fiction Short Division) at last year's Cannes Film Festival. The 15-minute film, a tragedy written, directed and produced by Boylan and Taylor, will be screened along with Clam Pie, their award-winning comedy that features the (great) Great Island Bakery in Bass River as well as other Cape locations. Boylan and Taylor will comment on and answer questions about their work throughout the evening. Both directors have traveled extensively overseas and will share perspectives on America's influence, and role, in the world -- and its relevance to the powerful medium of film. $10 suggested donation. Light refreshments will be served. The festival is free to young filmmakers. This event, which provides an opportunity for young filmmakers to network and creatively collaborate, is supported in part by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.
