Description:
"The Rossini Club is excited to present a special event of particular significance to Nantucket's history. In a program dedicated to fantastical depictions both real and imagined, the chamber group will be performing composer George Crumb's epic Vox balaenae, or Voice of the Whale, a work that aims to describe all aspects of the colossal mammal from the dawn of time through the modern era. Also on the program will be two musical fairy tales from 19th century Eastern European, Leos Janacek's evocative Pohadka, or Fairy Tale, and Carl Reinecke's scintillating Undine Sonata. Featuring Francesca Ferrara (flute), Bree Ahern (cello), and Wesley Ducote (piano). This concert is organized by Nick Davies as part of The Rossini Club, a unique chamber music collective featuring music from all centuries, linking the past with the present." - Nantucket Atheneum
