The CDP (Community Development Partnership) is one of only two providers on Cape Cod offering programs certified by CHAPA (Citizens' Housing and Planning Association) to support and promote home-buyer education

The CDP is offering a First Time Home Buyers Education certification workshop for people considering or actively planning their first home purchase.

Four 3 - hour sessions, running 6:00 to 9:00 PM on April 19, 24, 26 and May 1, 2012

The workshop covers: credit health and budgeting; mortgage process and options; finding the right home and making an offer; appraisals; home inspection; legal procedures and protections; insurance protection; home energy audits and savings; ongoing home-ownership.

CHAPA certification is essential for potential first-time homebuyers to access affordable mortgage products such as those offered by MassHousing, Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP Soft Second), other municipal and government programs and some commercial lenders, and down payment and closing cost assistance programs administered by organizations such as Housing Assistance Corporation

Attendance at all four classes is required to receive certification. CHAPA certification is good for two years.
