Description:
    Horseshoe crab conference at Audubon
Did you know the horseshoe crabs ancestry dates back 200 million years before the dinosaurs? The Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary will host a conference about horseshoe crabs and their conservation status.
Speakers will talk about current research on horseshoe crabs and how it relates to their harvest and management, especially on the Outer Cape. Also discussed will be the importance of the horseshoe crab to the endangered red knot shorebird, which are highly dependent on horseshoe crab eggs.
After the conference, there will be an opportunity to sign up for training as a volunteer horseshoe crab monitor in Wellfleet and Orleans.
Refreshments will be served.
