Description:
Aoife Clancy with Chuck Colley and Erik Wendelken Saturday April 10 at 7:00 PM "Aoife Clancy (pronounced Eefa) brings a refreshing new voice to folk music, one that ranges from traditional Irish songs to ballads and contemporary folk. Aoife comes from the small town of Carrick-on-Suir, in Co Tipperary, Ireland, where her musical career began at an early age. Her father Bobby Clancy of the legendary Clancy Brothers, placed a guitar in her hands at age ten, and by age fourteen was playing with her father in nearby pubs. She has performed with some of Irelands greatest performers, including Christy Moore, the Furey Brothers, The Clancy Brothers and The Makem Brothers, who are her brother Finbarr, cousins Donal and Robbie.
She joined Cherish the Ladies, which is one of the most sought-after Irish American groups in history from 1995 - 2000. While performing with Cherish Aoife recorded six CDs, including the Grammy nominated Celtic album with the Boston Pops. In 2005 she was a featured soloist with the Boston Pops along with world renowned Welsh harpist Caitrin Finch. Aoife has also featured with both the Cincinnati Pops and the Mid-town Kansas Symphony."
Nantucket musicians Erik Wendelken and Chuck Colley will join Aoife.
