Description:
Mary Emery is the Curriculum Coordinator for the NHAs 1800 House Historic Arts & Crafts program. She has been working in the field of fine art and interior design since 1985. After receiving her MFA from the Pratt Institute in printmaking and painting, Emery and a group of design professionals opened Emery Design in New York City. She also worked as a decorative artist for Hearst Entertainment and Lifetime Television. She now operates Emery Design on Nantucket.
In this talk, Emery will reflect on her recent artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center, a program in which fifty artists from around the world are awarded a month-long opportunity to explore an art medium while living at the center.
Emery's focus during her residency was on Solar Plate Printmaking, a fairly recent development in the intaglio printmaking world. Emery will discuss the process and perform a small demonstration.
