David Gessner will talk about his two new books: My Green Manifesto: Down the Charles River in Pursuit of a New Environmentalism and The Tarball Chronicles: A Journey beyond the Oiled Pelican into the Heart of the Gulf Oil Spill. David Gessner is the award- winning author of eight books and countless essays about the wild world. His uniquely rambunctious style has been redefining what it means to write about nature for the past twenty years. Gessner is the winner of a John Burroughs Award and has been selected for publication in The Best American Nonrequired Reading. He teaches creative writing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he founded the award-winning journal Ecotone.
