at Salt Pond Visitor Center, 50 Nauset Road, Eastham
This year's film festival showcases silent films from the last century, and later films they inspired.
Films run from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM - January 24 - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
This silent sci-fi classic is based on the Jules Verne novel that recounts the tale of the notorious, power-mad Captain Nemo. The film's astonishing underwater photography is far ahead of its time. (1916)
- January 31 - Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles
Ageless classic about a mysterious death and rumors about a demonic hound roaming the fog-shrouded moors. Holmes and Watson are called in to get to the heart of the mystery. (1959)
- February 7 - The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc
Historical drama that captures the life, moral convictions, and death of the young French girl who came to be known as Joan of Arc. (1999)
- February 14 - Snow White and the Huntsman
An updated take on the Snow White tale finds the maiden battling the evil queen with skills learned from the huntsman sent to kill her. (2012)
- February 21 - Chaplin: The Movie
Comic icon Charlie Chaplins poignant journey through triumph, failure, infamy, and government persecution. (1992)
- February 28 - Ben-Hur
(Silent Film) This collectors editions lavish sets, orchestral score, and spectacular chariot race helped make it the third highest grossing silent film of all time.
