Description:
Cape Symphony Annual Event New Years Day Party JANUARY 1, 2016 @ 3:00PM JUNG-HO PAK, CONDUCTOR MARNI NIXON, SPECIAL GUEST SARAH URIARTE BERRY, SOPRANO PAMELIA STICKNEY, THEREMIN
It takes a lot of musicians to put the life (waltzes, marches and polkas) into this party! Were also bringing three resolutions into the New Year. Number one: Make new friends, but keep the old. Our new pal Marni Nixon is most famous for being INVISIBLE. In 1964, Time magazine dubbed her the Ghostess with the Mostest and spilled the beans on one of Hollywoods best-kept secrets: shes the real singing voice of Deborah Kerr, Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn in The King and I, West Side Story and My Fair Lady. And thats just a little conversation starter. Imagine the stories shell tell and the music well share& with a little help from her friend and ours, Broadway star Sarah Uriarte Berry. Resolution two: Get our hands on that odd looking instrument you cant even touch to play. We found it and one of the best thereminists in the world to play it. We think its a pretty safe bet youve never heard Rachmaninoff or Gershwin quite like this before! Whats that? The third resolution? Skip the Vienna Café before the show. But you know thats not gonna happen. Lifes too short not to be sweet.
The Vienna Café 1:30-2:45 Arrive early and savor fine Viennese pastries by Gourmet Caterers of Boston. And, while you're there, write down your New Year's Resolution. We might even share it with the audience.
