    The Planned Giving Council of Cape Cod (PGCCC) is pleased to announce that Larry Raff will be the keynote speaker at its Annual Meeting on January 19th, 2011 from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Old Yarmouth Inn, Route 6a in Yarmouth Port. Larry G. Raff, President of Copley Raff, Inc. will present an interactive session on Endowment Fundraising, Do's Don't and What ifs. The E word has taken on new meaning with the recent market volatility and the need by many nonprofit organizations for now money. This presentation will examine the strategic wisdom of raising funds for endowment, how to raise this special breed of restricted gifts, and from whom. Outgoing PGCCC President Erich Briggs will present the slate of Officers and Directors to be voted on by the membership and he will preside over a very short business meeting, followed by the luncheon and keynote speaker. This luncheon meeting is free to Planned Giving Council of Cape Cod members. Non-members are welcome, but pay $35. Raff, MPH As President and principal of Copley Raff, Inc., Larry brings more than 27 years of accomplished leadership and entrepreneurial contributions to organizations in healthcare, higher education, research, performing arts and human services. Copley Raff, Inc. is one of the nation's leading comprehensive philanthropy consulting, leadership mail and executive search firms. He is also co-founder of the Philanthropy Leadership Advancement Nexus Major Gift Officer Immersion Training Certificate Program. Larry started his career by helping to create the nation's first statewide food banking system, Oregon Food Bank, winning a Presidential Volunteer Action Award and leaving as its Executive Director. Larry wrote and illustrated the first food banking handbook and designed and lead the first statistically significant study of statewide hunger, which is still being used today by Feeding America. Larry served as President and CEO of the Emanuel Medical Partnership Foundation, Oregon's largest tertiary care and pediatric hospital. He directed the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's $200 million "The Only Remedy is a Cure" campaign for the northeastern US and is the founding past president of the Autoimmune Disease Research Foundation. While with Copley Raff, Larry has been a partner with dozens of organizations including four of New England's largest multi-hospital systems and the largest multi-hospital system in the mid-west, academic medical centers, local and regional performing arts, higher education and human services organizations, and national organizations including the National Consumer Law Center, US FIRST, the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance and the Partnership for Food Safety Education. Larry holds a Masters degree in Public Health and Clinical Nutrition from the University of California at Berkeley, has penned articles for Fundraising Success Magazine and Board Source, and co-authored two journal articles: Bridging the Hunger Gap, in the Journal of Home Economics and A Social Marketing Approach to Reducing Salt Intake, in Health Education Journal.
