Johannes Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem, Op.45 (A German Requiem)

Also known as A German Requiem the work is no thicket of mourning, but rather the most hopeful and uplifting piece in the requiem canon. The seven-movement musical arc rises up from a gentle opening, pushing through stormy darkness, ultimately ending on a tranquil, pastoral note. The highly-acclaimed Gloriæ Dei Cantores with soprano Adrienne Danrich and baritone Thomas Jones converge to convey the genius of the work with utmost sensitivity and strength. Directed by Elizabeth Patterson, Gloriae Dei Cantores (Singers to the Glory of God) holds a passionate dedication to illuminate truth and beauty through choral artistry, celebrating a rich tradition of sacred choral music from Gregorian chant through the twenty-first century. Sharing its vision of inspiration and hope, the critically-acclaimed Gloriæ Dei Cantores has toured extensively, touching the hearts of audiences in 24 countries in Europe, Asia, and North America.

The voice of soprano Adrienne Danrich has been has been described as fresh liquid-silver. Her recent solo debuts include the Sarasota Opera, Dayton Opera, San Francisco Symphony, and Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Baritone Thomas Jones boasts an irresistible vocal and stage presence and has appeared with orchestras, opera companies, and choral ensembles and on recital series throughout North America.
